Humans have an innate resistance to change. Prosci found that 94% of employees experience stress during organisational change, and 75% report a decrease in productivity.​


Employees are becoming increasingly resistant to change and people’s ability to cope with change has halved compared to pre-pandemic levels according to Gartner research. 


The 2016 Gartner Workforce Change Survey showed 74% of employees were willing to change work behaviours to support organisational change. That number dropped to 38% in 2022.

A post-covid Prosci study showed that 73% of change management professionals reported their organisation had disruptive changes that neared, was at, or exceeded their organisation’s capacity to absorb them.

In a 2023 global study by Prosci, 88% of organisations with excellent change management practices met or exceeded project objectives, while only 13% with poor change management met or exceeded objectives. Additionally, a project with excellent change management is five times more likely to stay on or ahead of schedule than a project with poor change management.
